Tri-state Work Camp
Awesome! Amazing! Fun! Spiritual! Fulfilling!.....You list a positive adjective and it would fit. The first annual Tri-state Work Camp was extremely successful. My personal thanks to Toney Stowers for putting everything together. All the planning, preparing, buying of materials, arranging work sites, food, and housing, and general leadership was provided by him. I can't begin to express my appreciation for his work. I love you, man.
We worked at individuals homes, the Faith Mission in Hurricane and the St. Albans Twin City Mission. Four work teams spent a full two days of work mowing, weeding gardens, weed eating, cleaning, painting, folding clothes, visiting, etc. I can't even list everything that was done.
We worshipped together in the morning, at lunch, and at night. What a unique experience for everyone involved. There were 51 teenagers from three congregations -- Hurricane, Kanawha City, and Cross Lanes. Maybe next year there will be more.
Most of all we began to see ourselves as one big youth group instead of three distinct groups. I only hope we can keep it that way. The "Jesus Effect" is that we are all one in him.
I can't wait until next year.
